Segovia Train
Visitors to Segovia need to be aware that there are two Segovia train stations. One serves the high speed national rail network and the other conects Segovia to Madrid.
Apart from the small confusion that can arise with the stations visiting Segovia by train is simple and quick. From Madrid the route to Segovia can take as little as 20 minutes!
Segovia train stations
The two train stations in Segovia are distinguished as:
- Segovia Red convencional
- Segovia Guiomar
If you do end up going to the wrong station don't worry too much as they are only 2000 meters apart.
Segovia Red convencional
This is the terminus of the mountain route from Madrid and whilst a cheaper way to get between the two it does take a long time at almost 90 minutes to complete the journey. On the other hand the cost is far less! The only service from this station is to Madrid and the interveening towns and villages.
Segovia Guiomar
Segovia Guiomar is a newly inaugurated train station serving the high speed lines on the Madrid to Valladolid route. Due to track orientation the station is on the outside of Segovia being 6kms from the city center. From this station high speed trains can take the visitor from Segovia to just about anywhere in Spain incluiding:
- Alicante
- Barcelona
- Burgos
- Bilbao
- Palencia
- Madrid
- Sevilla
- Valladolid
- etc...
Be aware that High speed trains passing through the station are strictly timed and will only be on the platform for a minute or two at the most.
Station to City:
Two options exist for getting between the train stations in Segovia and the city center:
- Taxis - Normally meet all trains but in their absence the Telephone number is 921 445 000
